Biography/History
Ken Funmaker Sr., who headed the Ho-Chunk tribe in the early 1980s (and whose sister, JoAnn Jones, led the tribe during its critical building period on the early 1990s) was involved in establishing the Ho-Chunk Wazijaci Language and Culture Program, and acted as its director. Earlier names for the organization are the Hocak Wazijaci Language and Culture Preservation Committee (the name of the organization when the Hocak Wazijaci Artistic Traditions Project Collection was created) and the Hocak Wazijaci Language Division.
