Ron was born November 28th, 1946 in Higbee, MO to Everette Allen and Mary Virginia (Lyon) Westfall. He graduated from Higbee High School in 1964 then served three years in the United States Navy. He was married to Carol Ann (Points) Westfall June 20th, 1970 in Moberly, MO. He was proud to carry on the family tradition of hand split white oak basket making. In his career he achieved several awards and has his name on three patents.

Ronald Westfall was a master in the Missouri Folk Arts Program's Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program in white oak baskets in 1995.
