Biography/History

Elena Foulis has a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies from the University of Arkansas. Her research and teaching interests include U.S. Latina/o literature, Spanish, Digital Oral History, and Digital Storytelling, particularly in service-learning courses. She attends yearly academic conferences such as the RMMLA, SiUS, and RMCLAS to present on these topics. She has also written a pedagogical article about Christina García’s work that includes the use of mobile media and digital storytelling in Latino/a Literature in the Classroom: 21st Century Approaches(Routledge 2015), and multiple book reviews for the RMMLA journal. She is working on a digital oral history collection about Latin@s in Ohio, currently being archived at the Center for Folklore Studies’ internet collection. Some of these narratives can be found in her iBook titled, Latin@ Stories Across Ohio.
