Summary
Collection consists of audio, visual, and printed materials documenting the Appalachian migration to Maryland (1930s-1960s) and donated to the Maryland Folklife Program by Jason David Pate in the 1980s. The collection includes materials in various formats. Minimal archival processing has been performed. The current extent of 1.25 cubic feet reflects the materials currently at MSAC's Ostend Street location. These materials are scheduled to be reassessed as part of the broader archival effort. A significantly larger portion of materials related to Ola Belle Reed are still being surveyed and processed and are located at the Maryland State Archives in Annapolis and the National Council for Traditional Arts in Silver Spring, MD.
