Repository Description
The Missouri Folk Arts Program (MFAP) is a program of the Missouri Arts Council and is administered by the Museum of Art and Archaeology at the University of Missouri-Columbia. MFPA was established in 1984 and builds cross-cultural understanding by documenting, conserving and presenting our state's living folk arts and folklife in collaboration with Missouri's citizens.

The files include paper applications, audio cassettes, digital audio, digital images, print images, negatives, and slides.

GENRES
Public folk arts projects.

DATES
Roughly 2000 - 2012.

National Heritage Fellow Bob Holt; Missouri Arts Awardee Gladys Coggswell and several other master artists and apprentices are documented in the collection (documentation of site visits, evaluations, and public presentations).

COMMENTS
We are actively working weekly on this digitization project on the items that are in our possession and backing them up (x 2). Our graduate intern and graduate research assistant are working together on the project, with supervision. Upon completion (currently about halfway through and most recent years will be quicker as those files are mostly digital), we will transfer. The collection at Missouri State Historical Society is being slowly but surely organized with finding aids, etc. by a folklore graduate student working about 3 hours per week for MSHS.
