Lee Roberts was the sixth child of Carl and Elizabeth (Wood) Roberts and grew up in Greenville, Maine on a farm but later moved to town with his family when he was a bit older. He did odd jobs and worked in the woods. After twelve years, the family moved back to the farm and Lee Roberts worked there as well as in the woods. He fought in World War II. He never married. He was the cousin of Volney Roberts and the uncle of Linda Hubbard.
