Biography/History

The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association was founded in 1971. In its own words, it's mission is to "help farmers and gardeners: grow organic food, fiber and other crops; protect the environment; recycle natural resources; increase local food production; support rural communities; and illuminate for consumers the connection between healthful food and environmentally sound farming practices." (http://www.mofga.org/Home/AboutMOFGA/tabid/166/Default.aspx) They also organize the Common Ground Country Fair that takes place each September in Unity, Maine.
