The Alabama Community Scholars Institute (ACSI) was started in 2004 by the Alabama Folklife Association (AFA) to teach amateur folklorists how to conduct fieldwork by interviewing folk artists in a given area. The AFA sponsors the institute every two years in a different location in Alabama.
