Biography/History

Emile Leavitt was born in Old Town in 1892. He started working in the woods at age 13 during school vacations and at age 18, he went to work full time for Great Northern Paper Company as a scaler. He worked in the woods for 52 years in various positions, near Moosehead Lake, the Allagash, and in New Brunswick. He was married.
