Biography/History

Andrea Graham is a Folklife Specialist in the American Studies Program at the University of Wyoming, where she conducts fieldwork statewide and produces public programs. She also serves on contract as the Traditional Arts Program Coordinator for the South Dakota Arts Council. Andrea was the Folk Arts Program Coordinator for the Nevada Arts Council from 1990 through 2000, and prior to that worked for regional and state folklife programs in Virginia, Tennessee and Florida. She has also worked as an independent folklorist and oral historian, undertaking research and producing programs in California, Idaho, Iowa, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming. Her research interests focus on rural western traditions and communities, particularly material and occupational culture. She has extensive experience in planning and producing public programs such as exhibits, festivals, concerts, and publications. Andrea holds an M.A. in Folklore and Folklife from the University of Pennsylvania, and has worked in public folklore since 1980.
