Biography/History

Raymond Anthony Thebeau of Cadet, Missouri was born on Monday, February 2, 1931 in Old Mines, Missouri a son of the late, Mary Frances (Coleman) Thebeau and Joseph Adrian Thebeau. Raymond departed this life on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 having reached the age of eighty-two years, eleven months and six days.

Raymond was united in marriage to Mary Theresa Merseal on October 14, 1950 in Richwoods, Missouri after her passing on July 30, 2005 he then married Emma Boyer on September 15, 2007 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Tiff, Missouri.[...] Raymond was a parishioner of the St. Joachim Catholic Church, Old Mines, Missouri. He enjoyed spending time at Sayers Senior Center and was always on the move doing something. Raymond was very active outdoors, he enjoyed cutting wood, coon hunting and fishing. He had a great love for square dancing, calling and had a passion for teaching his dancing skills; he always looked forward to the annual barn dance at his home. He also loved woodwork and carpentry and was a member of the local carpenters union for 40 plus years. Raymond will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Raymond Thebeau was a master in the Missouri Folk Arts Program's Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program in square dance calling and dancing in 1994 and 1995.
