Summary

This collection of gospel, jazz, blues and swing is a small part of the materials accumulated by Howard Morison (aka Van Douglas) who spent 59 years as a radio announcer on Michigan radio stations WJBK, WJLB, and CKLW. This collection, donated to the Michigan State University Museum by his wife Conchita Morison, includes radio advertisements, scripts, program announcements, program schedules, as well as 65 gospel and blues recordings (33s, 45s, 78s, cassettes) representing a wide variety of local, national and international artists such as: National Independence Singers, Beverly Glenn, James Cleveland, Kenneth Glover, Mahalia Jackson, Mattie Moss Clark and Tessie Hill.
