Summary
Collection, 1986-2003, consisting of videotapes featuring interviews, field recordings, musical performances, memorials, and religious ceremonies from across Alabama. Documentaries from the Public Broadcasting System (PBS) and the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) are also in the collection. All the materials are recorded on video home system tapes (VHS), varying in length and brand. Recordings worth noting include recordings of gospel groups; Primitive Baptist church services and funerals; white and African American Sacred Harp group sings; gospel conventions and meetings; and Sacred Harp conventions and meetings.
