These were recorded by folklorist and author, Joyce Cauthen, while conducting research for her book With Fiddle and Well-Rosined Bow, published in 1989. The recordings, mainly cassettes, are of interviews with Alabama fiddlers born in the first half of the 20^th century and the descendants and friends of fiddlers born before that time.
