Summary

Photos and other materials documenting 4-H Camp Overlook (Mountain View, NY), which TAUNY recognized as a Very Special Place in 2016.

For nearly three quarters of a century, too many children to count from Franklin and St. Lawrence counties have spent an exciting part of their summer vacations in the northern foothills of the Adirondacks at 4-H Camp Overlook. In 1945, a group of 4-H leaders from both counties purchased an old great camp/hotel near Malone on Indian Lake. Throughout the years, the beloved camp has hosted weekly summer sessions that teach life skills, including outdoor education, archery, sailing, canoeing, boating, swimming, aquatics, and crafts. Currently, 4-H Camp Overlook is a joint project of the two Cornell Cooperative Extensions of St. Lawrence and Franklin Counties, and the camp maintains its commitment to the local area by offering scholarships to children from those two counties.
