"An initiative of the Louisiana Division of the Arts Folklife Program from 1997 until 2007, the Louisiana Voices Folklife in Education Program (LV) developed the Louisiana Voices Educator’s Guide, an online public-domain resource (www.louisianavoices.org), and the Folklife in Louisiana website (www.louisianafolklife.org). The goal was to provide frameworks for the study of culture and an academically sound basis for both multicultural and technological education. The program offered professional development opportunities for educators to learn to use the educator’s guide and incorporate the information about Louisiana folklife into their classrooms. From its inception, the program involved intensive collaboration between folklorists and educators to create both resources and professional development strategies."
