Summary
Collection contains planning and administrative files and media documentation of the Cowboy Music Gathering, a summer event produced in 1993 and 1994 by the Western Folklife Center and held at the 71 Ranch in Elko County, Nevada. The event was discontinued after the second year. In addition to artist-based files, contracts, travel arrangements, correspondence, and similar materials reflecting production aspects of the event, the collection includes media documentation in the form of sound recordings, photographs, and videos. At time of writing, the collection remains unprocessed except for a provisional series arrangement. For possible related files, see also papers of the Founding Director (Hal Cannon) and the Artistic Director (Meg Glaser). Oversize materials in the WFC Archives include artwork associated with the Cowboy Music Gathering, such as poster art, signage, and graphics by Dave Holl used for decorative decals.
