Summary
Small collection pertaining to Shoshone-Paiute cowboy, Leonard Jackson, and a legendary black mare that Jackson, a Vietnam veteran and engineering contractor, recalled encountering in the Owyhee desert country of Nevada. Collection consists of two photocopied newspaper clippings—one a profile of Jackson and another about the Owyhee Black Mare, that includes information about Jackson’s service in Vietnam. Also, a color-copied sheet containing five snapshot photos showing Jackson with various horses. Gift of Leonard Jackson, ca. 2012.
